Say “Hello” to our brand-new clubs!

Breaking News... March 12, 2010... Say hello to our TWO NEWEST CLUBS: “Chat & Chew”, an advanced club that meets once a month for dinner at various restaurants around District 36; and “P.M.A. Toastmasters”, a professional group of affiliates within the Property Management Association.

Wow! LGM Barry Piatt and his team are really helping us bring Toastmasters Training to more people! Since July 1, the District has chartered SIX new clubs: Unity Toastmasters at Unity Church in Washington, C.N.C.S. Toastmasters at the Corporation for National and Community Service, S.E.C. Toastmasters at the Securities and Exchange Commission, USPeakers at U.S. Pharmacopeia in Rockville, Speakeasy at the University Club in Washington DC, and 1301 K Communicators at Price Waterhouse Coopers (at, you guessed it, 1301 K Street NW)! We have quite a few more clubs still in the “development stage”, so you’re going to be seeing a lot more over the next few months. If you’re enthusiastic about helping these or other new clubs get off to a great start, particularly if you’re interested in helping to charter or mentor a club, we have a club for you!

You’ve Got a Friend In Toastmasters is the District’s theme for the 2009-2010 Toastmasters year, but it is more than just our theme! It reflects the fact that Toastmasters is an organization that emphasizes mutual support, camaraderie, and friendship, all while we are working to achieve our own personal goals. If you are a member of a Toastmasters Club, then you know for a fact that you are among friends who are cheering for you at every step of your journey; if you are not a member yet, you almost certainly have a friend who is already part of the Toastmasters family, and that person would love to have you be a part of our program. This is our guarantee: as a part of one of the world’s most supportive educational organization, you will find yourself among friends, and you will have fun while achieving your communication and leadership goals!

Jim Dooley, DTM, District Governor
