Congratulations to Everyone and Thanks for a Successful
Winter Toastmasters Leadership Institute Season!
Congratulations and many thanks to you for a successful Winter Toastmasters Leadership Institute Season! Hundreds of Toastmasters turned out for free fun electives and club officer training! Toastmasters TLIs are among the best communication and leadership education and training values around. I am certain that the time TLI participants invested in our TLI classes will pay dividends in their clubs and in their daily lives too.
Kudos to:
Our final numbers are not yet in, but it looks like more Toastmasters attended District 36 TLI training than last year, which is fantastic! This is one of the most important ways we can improve the quality of the Toastmaster experience in our great District.
Check Your Club Training Credit
While we're on the topic of numbers, please continue to check your club officer training credit at Toastmasters International and District36.org to ensure that your club and officers are granted the credit you deserve for attending TLI. When the statistics are done, we'll upload the data to Toastmasters as quickly as we can--most likely by the first week in March. Feel free to let us know if your club's training is not properly credited!!!
Now that the Winter TLI Season is done, the International Speech and Evaluation Contest Season is underway at full speed. Your local Area contests are the theme for March! Sign up now for the District 36 Conference -- the winner of our speech contest there will compete at the Toastmasters International Convention in Orlando in August to be the World Champion of Public Speaking! Registration material is available online!
Finally, TLI attendees! Please share what you learned at TLI with your fellow Toastmasters. Next year's leaders are at your meetings today! And if you'd like to be more involved in providing quality education and training that improves the Toastmasters experience in our district, please let me know!
Happy Trails!

- You don't have to be an officer to attend TLI classes; it is for everyone. Be sure to ready your officer manual prior to attending classes. You can download copies from Toastmasters International resource pages online.
- You will receive DCP credit for the club office(s) you actually hold in your club.
- Be sure to complete the registration form AND sign the classroom roster; include your club number and district number. If you hold the same position in multiple clubs, be sure to list all clubs on the registration form.
- Be an active listener.
- Share your experiences when appropriate.
- Use your Toastmaster’s manners. Encourage other officers to attend. Special recognition goes to clubs who have all seven officers trained during each officer training period.
- Have fun
Benefits of Attending TLI
Club officer training is an essential part of achieving success as a club officer. District 36 TLI sessions are a dynamic, interactive, information-and-idea filled day of training and networking. Officer participation in TLI contributes towards Goal #9 of the Distinguished Club Program (DCP) helping the club achieve success.
- Enhance your ability to lead your club to success by attending the Training and Leadership (TLI) sessions. At least FOUR officers must be trained at both the Summer and Winter sessions for your club to get credit for Goal # 9 of the DCP.
- Earn special recognition for your club if all seven officers attend training for Summer and Winter sessions.
- Attend training electives designed to enrich your understanding as a club officer. Gain tips, techniques, and other resources and tools to share with your club members and more importantly maintain a healthy Toastmasters club.
- Browse new manuals and other resources at the District’s bookstore; pick up ribbons, table topics tools, membership pins, etc. Learn about new resources your club could use to grow.
