I am a person of many hobbies. In life, I wear many hats. I am a person of faith, a daughter, a sister, an Aunt, and a friend among many others.
Of all of my hobbies, Toastmasters is probably among my favorite. The leadership and public speaking skills that I’ve developed as a 23-year Toastmaster have carried over well for me professionally.
As a PROJECT STIR trainer, I teach people with disabilities how to advocate for themselves professionally. In the coming months, I look forward to being a visitor at Gamechangers
Toastmasters in Montgomery County.
For 17 years, I taught functional level adult literacy to people with disabilities in
Washington DC. I believe that my experience in Toastmasters made me a much stronger and
more effective tutor.
Toastmasters has broadened my horizons. I am often asked to speak at various organizations. Several years ago, a friend asked me to be the keynote speaker for a conference at her workplace. I was humbled and honored to accept. Toastmasters is the gift that continues to give much.
Toastmasters has expanded my opportunities. I got an interview for a job with the state of Maryland. My experience as a Toastmaster is the reason for my success.
In the final year as District 36, I know with hope and confidence that the same could be said of YOU! There’s no time like TODAY to achieve your goals and realize your dreams.
